Night FeverNight Fever by Ed Brubaker

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This was supposed to be a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde riff but if the blurb hadn't told me that I doubt I'd have guessed that. It felt very much like bored business man gets swept up in violence that I just couldn't care about, if I'm honest. The art was decent enough but there is just not much new in this story.

Jonathan Webb is in France representing his publishing company. He wanted to be a writer but he's a salesperson who is a bit jealous of this author at his company who wrote in a weird cannibalistic dream into the story, a dream that webb was having... which is the most interesting thing of the story. but has very little impact on the story.

So unable to sleep, he goes to a party, pretends to be someone off the list and it's a wild part with too many naked women (of course) and drugs and alcohol. He meets Rainier who gets him into trouble and he enjoys it until it finally goes too far. eye roll.

I didn't get any hint of jekyll/hyde. Webb knew what he was doing (except at one moment) and somehow he's like I shaved off my facial hair no one noticed me afterward. Um fingerprints? DNA was around when this is set. Yeah it just wasn't very memorable or interesting.
